Anklam is a city I could not find out much about, but it is in Vorpommern (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania). The flag they used for hand wavers was dark blue over white with the coat of arms in the centre (a red griffin? over a grey town/castle? wall on a blue field). Above the shield was the word 'Anklam' in white, underneath it the word 'Vorpommern' in black. I tried asking the people representing the town whether the words were officially a part of the flag or just put there for convenience. I did not get a clear answer. The GIF is made from the hand waver. Blue over white are the colours of Vorpommern.

Lubeck (in the Land Schleswig-Holstein) was perhaps the most influential Hansa city. From 1358 it was the administrative headquarters of the Hanseatic League, and its legal system was adopted by over 100 other cities in the Baltic region. The flag of Lubeck is white over red - these colours are used by many North German cities (for example Bremen and Hamburg). In the upper hoist corner is a black double headed eagle with red claws and beaks, and with a white over red shield. The GIF is from a scanned table top flag, but I saw the same design in use as a 'real' size flag.

Stralsund is a north German city, in the Land Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (population about 76,000). The flag they used, was red with a white cross and arrowhead. I think I remember having seen this design in old flag charts, but wasn't there also a flag with a yellow sun (smiling!) on a red field - or was this the flag of some other city?

Wismar is a city of about 57,000 people in the north of Germany
(Mecklenburg-West Pomerania). The flag they used for the Hansa festival in Bergen, was striped six times red and white - with red on top (I think).
