Around that time there was a "North Caucasian Federation" (or perhaps "Federation of the Peoples of the Northern Caucasus", each source gives another name) which comprised seven peoples. The Flag Bulletin 148(1992), p 184, gives two flags for this state: - seven horizontal stripes in green-white with a light blue canton with seven yellow stars (in use until 1919); - plain red with a green canton with seven white stars and a crescent; unfortunately no pictures are given. At about the same time there was a "North Caucasian Emirate", centered in the present-day republic of Daghestan. On coins/banknotes of this state there are the national symbols:
Flag: plain field with lying crescent below three five-pointed stars in a "V" arrangement (I have only a black&white; picture)
Arms: Stylized balance with a sword and a rifle. In one scale a book (koran ?) leaning to the other a lance with a pennant (or a flag). Above the balance a crown, below it the crescent with the three stars from the flag.
