Full name: Komi Republic
Location: Russian far north
Status: Constituent Republic of the Russian Federation
This republic, with its considerable oil and mineral reserves, is
likely to be of economic importance in the future. The Komi are a
Finno-Urgic people who have been ruled by the Russians since the 14th
century. However, they were largely left to their own devices until the
1930s when the economic significance of the territory was realized. An
Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was created in 1936; in 1990 this
proclaimed itself a Republic.
The flag of Komi consists of three equal horizontal stripes of blue, green, and white.

Komi is an Autonomous Republic in Russian Federation.
Komi people are Finnish. They call their land Komintasavalta, that is
"land of Komi" in Finnish.
On 27 Nov 1992 Komi adopted a simple three horizontal (light blue -
green - white) stripped flag.

Full name: Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area
Location: Russian far north
Status: Region within the Russian Federation
Although related to the Komi (or Zyrans), Soviet divide-and-rule
policies towards ethnic minorities dictated the establishment of a
separate region for the Permyaki, and a National Area was created in
1925. Some Komi wish to unite their various regions into a 'Greater Komi
Republic'; such aspirations are unlikely to be permitted given the
region's economic importance. Information is lacking about any current
Komi-Permyak flag.
