Balkaria flag by zeljko heimer

Full name: Kabardino-Balkarian Republic
Location: Caucasus.
Status: Constituent republic of the Russian Federation.
Notes: An autonomous province was established for the Kabardians in 1921 and a year later this was extended to include the Balkarians. In 1936, the status of the region was upgraded to that of an ASSR. This, in turn, declared itself a Union Republic in 1991. I do not have any information on a flag for the region, however, I do have flags for separate self-proclaimed Kabardin and Balkarian republics. The former is obviously closely based on that of Abkhazia and the Confederation of Mountain Peoples of the Caucasus.
