During the annual general meeting of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Vlaggenkunde (NVvV) - Dutch Association of Vexillology - saturday 25th March 1995 in the city of Haarlem, mr. Thijs van Leeuwen was elected chairman. Van Leeuwen, already member of the NVvV board, succeeded mr. Ger ten Hoeve. Ten Hoeve was NVvV president since 1982. Board member and editor of the vexillological magazine 'Vexilla Nostra' mr. Hans van Heyningen, als retired.

The general meeting elected some new members in the governing body of the NVvV. This consists now of:

Thijs van Leeuwen (chairman); Daan van Leeuwen (treasurer); Anton Warnies (secreatry); drs. joost Schokkenbroek (member); dr. C.A.O. Baron Schimmelpenninck van de Oije (member) and Jos Poels (Vexilla Nostra). Thijs van Leeuwen (Amsterdam) is communication manager of the city of The Hague; Daan van Leeuwen (Dordrecht) is researcher at TNO; Anton Warnies (Almere) is retired chief signaller of the carrier H.M.S. Karel Doorman of the Dutch Navy; Baron Schimmelpenninck van de Oije (Rotterdam) is archivist of the city of Rotterdam; Jos Poels (Grubbenvorst) is journalist and flag publicist. He was treasurer of thje NVvV during the period 1979-1984.

Jos Poels is appointed as editor in chief of the bimontly magazine Vexilla Nostra. Under his rule the magazine will get a new concept and will be restyled.

The general meeting also adopted a complete new constitution for the NVvV. The two main aims of the association are:

• To promote the study of flags and emblems on flags in the Netherlands and abraod;
• To stimulate conservation and exhibition of old flags and flag charts.
