This flag was hoisted in 1884 when the King Binoko conquest the Nonouti island. The British compeled Binoko to evacuate the island, and then one of the four star was suppressed. (same year 1884). In 1889 the wife of R.L. Stevenson designed a new flag and royal banner:


(in the flag the shark was uncrowned, and the motto is missing). The Kingdom of Abemama was under British Protection after 1892, and was declared crown colony in 1911.
