Legend on Corsican Flag

Concerning Corsica, there is a legend (real story?) concerning the More head. It is said that at the time of the kingdom of Corsica, a negro save the king from being assassinated. As reward, the king ordered that the "tortil" (the white thing) on the head of the More, has to be not on the eyes anymore (any More ;-) ) but above them. It was then said that Corsica had at last open the eyes. Wasn't this more PC for the negro people?
