Use of the flag

This flag is used by the Catalan nationalists that propose the creation of an independent Catalan State that contains all the Catalan territories, that is to say Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic, Rosellon [France] and Algher in Sardinia [Italy].

Explanation of the flag

The red star represents the socialist ideology of the nationalists, but it has been admitted additionally nationalistic not socialistic. There exist other designs (red triangle and yellow star; canton blue with white star) whose use is very limited.
