Description

Horisontal bars of blue, white, green and yellow, over all one vertical red bar., on hoist in blue bar yellow five pointed star. Colours were chosen to represent Franch and panafrican. What is common - red as blood - is supe rimposed to symolize that Europeans and African has to respect each other. Yellow star of independace symolize bright future. Officialy hoisted on 1-DEC-1958. Proportions aprox. 3:5.

Central African Empire

During the rule of Bokassa the flag was unaltered. There was, however, an Imperial Flag. This was green, with a 20-pointed gold star in the middle upon which was an eagle with spread wings (also gold).
